O.K., I'm a cigarette smoker. Have been for well over 40 years. My lungs are fine. It ticks me off that the tobacco companies have been forced to pay gigantic fines and fees for selling their LEGAL product. Those billions of dollars have been spent on everything under the sun, wasted in remarkable ways... And the cost has been passed on to the smokers. Clearly sticking it to the consumer is an added tax, that the new prez. promised not to do.
Now they want to force the military to give up their cigarettes. There's a lot of nerve for you! It's not like they're risking their lives for the rest of us, is it? What kind of an idiotic stuffed skirt would deprive our service personnel of having LEGAL cigarettes? What ever happened to the rights and responsibilities that we used to have? Is the government now in charge of every detail of our lives? Can they tell us when to sleep, what to eat and how often we can visit the bathroom? Oh, that's right, they are trying to do all these things...
I have two grand nephews in the US Army (one of them smokes, I know. Not sure about the other one.) And my grand daughter is a US Marine, stationed in Okinawa. I don't know if she smokes or not, but if they want to they should have the right to. The government shouldn't be able to reject recruits because they smoke. The military would shrink dangerously if they did.
Is that maybe the reason? B.O. (B.S.) wants to have his own army of street thugs that's bigger and better armed than our military. He's bragged about it! Does he want to cut down the number of people eligible for military service by putting more stupid restrictions on them? Nothing he could do would surprise me a bit.

Hi SL,
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about this, because I don't know much about US politics. But it sounds like an absolutely ridiculous idea. As you said, cigarettes are legal. And it's not that easy to just quit either.
We have the same high taxes on cigarettes in Australia. And it doesn't do any good in terms of cutting down the people smoking. It just means that people are forking over more money and have less money to spend on other things.
Liz
B.O. (B.S.) made a big deal of not taxing middle income people, Liz. I can't believe that anyone was dumb enough to vote for him. But now the taxes are showing up a few at a time. We're getting skinned. Now he plans to make electricity too expensive for us to even use it. It's a lesson for the rest of the world. Be very careful who you vote for, you might have years to spend regretting it.
ReplyDeleteHey S.L. our freedoms are vanishing, maybe the dumb down voters will wake up before they have to bow to King Obama when they hear the sound of music playing.
